Happy Wedding Anniversary to US!

Hey guys!! Hi! Hi! Remember me?? I took a few weeks off over the holidays while we were visiting family in Chicago. We had a great time and it was sad to go. But it was a good thing we left before the subzero temps and wind chills they have been getting this week!

Alright peeps. I’ve gotten many emails from you wonderful people asking to see some wedding pictures. Well happy-my-anniversary to you because it is about to get all mushy up in here. If you want to avoid the mush-fest… leave now……………….. Okay. I think all the love-scrooges are gone now. Time for picture palooza!

Three years ago today I was in the middle of the most amazing day of my life. Three years ago today, I married the love of my life, best friend, and leader. It was a balmy (compared to the current temps in Chicago!) 17 degrees outside with a light dusting of snow. The day was a dream.

I wore my dream dress (an Allure dress) and was surrounded by people I love.

I was so excited!!!

While this day was amazing and wonderful, it was also incredibly bittersweet. A mere 4 weeks earlier, my father had died very suddenly. His absence was incredibly tangible. He was not only going to walk me down the aisle, but he was also going to officiate the ceremony. My older brother stepped in to walk me down the aisle and our paster took my dad’s place as officiant. Many tears of joy and sadness were shed that day.

There was lots of smooching too.

Because I’m super cool, cheap, and a glutton for punishment, I folded 200 paper airplanes and asked people to throw them at us. Yes. I did get one in the eye. Thanks for asking.

Then we played in the freezing cold and took some pictures.

There is a reason Illinois is called the Prairie State.

Not only did we stand outside in the freezing weather, but so did our wonderful bridal party.

See under that bridge? See the ice? See my nerdy blonde sister wearing gloves?? Yeah. It was cold. But the pictures were totally worth the frostbite.

Some of the deets: I carried black red roses and calalillies. The single bright red rose was added last minute in memory of my dad. The cross that was wrapped around my bouquet was also his. I still dream about my flowers. I loved them!

I also DIY-ed a lot of stuff. We made cootie catchers for each place setting for the guests to play with as they waited.

We also DIY-ed all the giant tree centerpieces and every paper item (escort cards, programs, menus, invitations, etc.)  I’ll have to do another post another time to show you all the details. It would get crazy if I did it now.

So there you go! A little glimpse of our winter wedding. Happy Anniversary, hubby! I love you so much!! Here’s to 60+ more!
