Transforming Picture Frames

Not long ago I showed you how I tackled my beast and hung pictures the easy way. I loved the look of my beginnings of a gallery wall. But I wasn’t a big fan of the stark contrast of my dark, mismatched frames with the artwork. It was a start but definitely not the end.

Here is a refresher picture of how it looked after I hung all my pictures up for the beginnings of my gallery wall. You can see that I ended up hanging my Hometown Love Maps here.

I began by taking apart all my picture frames.

Then I gave them all a light sanding. I wanted to get rid of that shiny top coat!

Then I primed and painted them. A nice, clean white!

Then I took my sanding block and sanded off a little bit of that pretty white paint to make them look all distressed. I love that old, weathered look!

I hung them all back up and now my “beast” looks almost new! I love the clean look of the white frames.

I may or may not have accidentally broke 2 panes of glass while doing this. Oops. I’ll have to find some replacement glass.

It was such a simple project but it made a huge difference. Now the focus isn’t the frames, it is the pictures. Love. It would look even better if that wall was a nice light gray color. But since we live in an apartment for the time being, I don’t want to pay the fee for painting our walls. So that dream will have to wait until we have a house of our own!

Do any of you have a gallery wall?
