Transforming Picture Frames

Not long ago I showed you how I tackled my beast and hung pictures the easy way. I loved the look of my beginnings of a gallery wall. But I wasn’t a big fan of the stark contrast of my dark, mismatched frames with the artwork. It was a start but definitely not the end.

Here is a refresher picture of how it looked after I hung all my pictures up for the beginnings of my gallery wall. You can see that I ended up hanging my Hometown Love Maps here.

Prettifying Plain Cupcakes

Prettyifying is a word, right? Well… it is now! Birthdays are a big deal around our house. The include a special dessert, special homemade dinner, and a separate day of a big fancy meal at a restaurant of the birthday-er’s choice. Okay, maybe that isn’t a “huge” deal. But we like to make it as special as possible.

Prettifying Plain Cupcakes

It was the hubby’s birthday last week and I wanted to make it a big deal! I wanted it to feel special despite being away from our families. When it came to making his birthday dessert, he had one request: Funfetti. It’s his all time favorite. I promise he isn’t 12. How was I going to make plain ol’ box mix fancy?

I wanted to figure out a way to make it homemade, but seeing as how we were both sick last week {the hubby says it’s been so quiet since I’ve lost my voice}, I decided to stick with the box mix.

Chevron Painted Rug

I would never call myself an “outdoors-y” person. I’m not one you will find skiing the slopes, rock climbing, or white-water rafting. It’s not because I wouldn’t like to do those things, but because I’m incredibly clumsy.

I don’t just mean stubbing my toe or the occasional scratch. No. I’m pretty dangerous. Doors jump out at me, stairs shift causing me sprain my ankles… 12 times, and furniture bites me. I have also broken my thumb getting a drink out of a water fountain, found soft spots in wood decks that causes me to fall through, and accidentally cut off the tip of my father’s finger with a table saw. Yeah. It’s bad. It is also part of the reason that I became a nurse!

Though I’m not allowed {by the hubby} to be as outdoors-y as I would like, I do love a walk in the park, sipping iced tea by the pool, swimming, even an occasional hike. I was absolutely thrilled when we moved and our little place had a pretty good sized balcony {with an amazing view of the mountains, none-the-less}.

Coconut Shrimp

Good Monday to all of you! I hope you had a fantastic weekend. I sure did! I’m going to start the week off by teasing your tastebuds!

The hubby is a big fan of seafood. Me? Not so much. I know, I know. “It’s good for you and blah, blah, blah.” I have yet to find a seafood that I like. Even shrimp.

I’ve tried fresh salmon. Nope. I’ve tried lobster. Ehh. Oh wait… I did enjoy that fresh Maryland crab I had when I was 13. So maybe crab. That’s it.

But the hubby loves it! So every once in a while I decide to be a nice wife and whip him up a batch of his favorites: coconut shrimp.
