Reclaimed Window Frame

Happy Labor Day! I hope you are all having a great day and enjoying the last tidbits of summer! I had a great week! My mom and sister flew out to Denver last minute and spent a few days with me! So we have spent the weekend recuperating!

Reclaimed Window Frame

Some projects I get done incredibly fast and some take me 10 million years. My tufted ottoman from a coffee table only took me only 1.5 days to finish. This old, reclaimed window frame?? Its in the 10 million years range. I was so excited to start this project. So much so that I started it before I remembered to take before pictures. Oops. Then I got so wrapped up in other projects that came up along the way that this gorgeous old window sat in my living room unfinished for about 2 months.

Well, I finally got back to work on it and I’m in love! I got it to a great half-way point. I still want to do a little bit more to it but I thought I would share my progress with you!

Ice Cream Brownie Bites

Ice Cream Brownie Bites

You know how the Cookie Monster gobbles down cookies by smashing as much as possible into his face? Yeah. You can call me the Ice Cream Monster. {Are we all done laughing at the image of ice cream dripping down my face? Okay, good.} I’m an ice cream fiend. I love it. It is my downfall. I can’t really resist it… at all. It screams out to me, “Mmmm! Talitha! I’m so good! Come eat me!” And I happily skip off to obey my talking treat.

And since I’m pretending that making this treat is as part of my hold-on-to-summer-as-long-as-I-can mindset, I thought I would share it with you! It is absolutely scrumptious and I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of doing this before! I give you: Ice Cream Brownie Bites!

Bowling Ball Lady Bugs

I like a little bit of whimsy in my life. I like bubbles, rainbows, and playing on swing-sets. And I like my garden to have adorable bowling ball lady bugs. Or, more accurately, my mother’s garden.

Bowling Ball Lady Bugs

My mom had seen these adorable lady bugs online {so sorry, I don’t know the original source} and she asked me to help her make them! She and I began doing this project back when I was visiting Chicago in July. {Let’s be honest, I mostly just took pictures. I did add 1 coat of red when it was needed. But that was about it. So I used the word “helped” pretty liberally!} I had to leave before they were done so she finished them up and sent me the pictures. They turned out amazingly! I love them! AND, though time consuming, they were pretty simple to make!

A Nurse’s First Aid Kit

A Nurse's First Aid Kit

In my efforts to squeeze every last drop out of summer I’m prepping for a little roadtrip! And given my aforementioned affinity for injuring myself and my background as a Registered Nurse, I have always carried a first aid kit in my car. The problem is that most pre-made kits don’t have all the things I {as a nurse} like to have available when I fall flat on my face tripping over that invisible rock that just appeared.

Not to toot my own horn, I’m a rockstar at first aid. {Ok… my horn might toot a little} Maybe it was all that time I had working with trauma patients and patients who could win an Olympic metal in falling down.

DIY Solar Jars

The summer is winding down. Kids heading back to school, football season starting, the end of August rapidly approaching… sigh. I don’t want summer to end! Don’t get me wrong, I love fall. It is one of my favorite seasons {right along with summer and spring! I could do without such a long winter}. In my book, summer doesn’t end until 1) August is over, 2) the average temperature is less than 70 degrees. So I’m going to do everything I can to hold on to summer a tiny bit more and squeeze every last drop out of it!

DIY Solar Jars

Step #1 to holding on to summer?? Write a post about DIY solar light jars!!
