Mint Brownie Milkshake

Happy Blog-iversary to ME! And to this little ole’ blog! Yesterday was the 1-year anniversary of the start of LPH. One year ago yesterday I started writing to all of you wonderful people. Some of you have been with me since the very beginning and some of you are newer friends. I love you all so dearly! Seriously! You guys have enriched my life so much. I wish I could show up at your house with this yummy treat and personally thank you! The last year has been amazing… here’s to many more years!

Mint Brownie Milkshake

In celebration of the big day, I whipped up a little creation combining a few of my favorite things: mint chocolate chip ice cream and brownies! How-to Paint Your Front Door

How-to Paint Your Front Door

YAY! I’m finally jumping on the painted door bandwagon! As long as people have been painting their doors bright colors, I knew I wanted to join in on the fun. But we couldn’t since we lived in apartments with boring brown doors. For some reason, I don’t think they would appreciate me painting the door.  Now that we have a house I knew that painting our front door was definitely a project I wanted to tackle. This is not one of those projects where I had to hem-and-haw over over the details. I’ve had this planned for quite some time. Red front door and oil-rubbed bronze hardware.  I learned a few things while painting my door so I wanted to share a little tutorial on how-to paint your front door.

How-to Paint Your Front Door

I know we all love a good before and after, so let’s just get that out of the way up front. The front of our house seriously lacks personality and curb appeal. That was another reason I wanted to paint the door STAT. The door used to be hidden behind a storm door. We removed the storm door partially because we rarely used it and mostly because it was broken and would let bugs into the house… hence leading to the rarely using it. Plus I wanted to be able to see my gorgeous red door from the street! Increased curb appeal!

Fudge Brownies from Scratch

Would you call me a hypocrite if I told you that I love brownies and I love to bake but I have never ever ever made real brownies without a box mix? It’s true. I haven’t. I always figured you could, but whenever we made brownies when I was growing up my mom would walk to the pantry and pull out a good, ole, delicious box mix!

Fudge Brownies from Scratch

I have nothing against box mix brownies. I love the amazing taste and convenience of a box mix. Heck, I’ve even shared recipes {here and here} where I “make” brownies using a box mix. I’ve been craving brownies for about a month now. But, in my efforts to cut out snacking and sweets, I have resisted making them. And then this week my hubby asked for brownies. What’s a girl to do!? Sacrifice for your hubby and make the brownies, of course! But, being the good girl I am, I didn’t have any brownie mix. So I ventured to find a good recipe for brownies from scratch. And not just any brownies from scratch… ooey, gooey, soft, and delicious fudge brownies from scratch!
