Nuts & Bolts Candy Clusters

Thanksgiving has come and gone and I’m STILL feeling full from dinner last night!! You too?! Oh good… I’m not alone. As the leftover turkey gets eaten and fall slowly turns to winter it is time to start making some Christmas treats! On the docket today is Nuts & Bolts Candy Clusters! Okay okay. I confess, I made these before Thanksgiving. BUT part of my family’s tradition is making our Christmas candies before Thanksgiving so we can share them for both holidays!

I know that these delicious little balls of crispiness are a tradition for a lot of families. There are so many different recipes. This is the recipe that my mom passed down to me. Without further ado, my family recipe for Nuts & Bolts Candy Clusters!

Recipe type: Dessert
Serves: 24 clusters
  • 24 ounces White Chocolate Candy Bark
  • ¼ cup Creamy Peanut Butter
  • 2 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
  • 2 cups Dry Roasted Peanuts
  • 2 cups Pretzel Sticks, broken
  • 1 cup Almonds
  1. Using a double boiler {or a bowl placed over a sauce pan simmering 1-inch of water}, slowly melt the white chocolate and peanut butter. Mix until smooth.
  2. In a large bowl, combine rice krispies, peanuts, pretzels, and almonds.
  3. Slowly pour the chocolate over the cereal mixture. Stir evenly to coat.
  4. Drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper. Cool in refrigerator for 20 minutes until hard.

One of the things I can really appreciate about this recipe now that I am an adult is that it takes about 20 minutes to make! And the longest of that time is spent waiting for the chocolate to melt!

I remember many a holiday season eating my weight in these! They are the perfect combination of sweet and salty with all those pretzels and peanuts in them! Mmm… I may have to go eat one right now!

What are some of your favorite Christmas treats!? Are you wearing your fat pants {like me} to aid in the recovery from Thanksgiving dinner??
