Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

It’s Friday, Friday! Gotta get down on Friday! TGIF! For some reason this week went cuh-ray-zee slow. But the weekend is here and that means time with my hubby and garage sales! Yippee!! And Friday also means that I get to share a new recipe with all of you! {Side note: I wish I had some cool name for these Friday recipes that I share. Food Friday? Flavor Friday? Friday Feasts? Any ideas?} Anywho. This time I’m sharing my all time favorite salad dressing recipe: Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing.

This recipe originated as a copycat recipe for Outback Steakhouse’s ranch dressing but I’m not 100% sure that it tastes quite the same. But it is pretty darn close.

Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing
Prep time
Total time
Recipe type: Salad
Serves: 12 ounces
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup buttermilk
  • 2 tsp dry ranch powder
  • ¼ tsp fresh ground pepper
  • ⅛ tsp garlic powder
  • ⅛ tsp paprika
  1. Combine all ingredients into a bowl and whisk together. Pour into airtight container and store in the fridge.

PHEW! That was one hard recipe!! One little tip about consistency. If your ranch dressing seems a little thick when you mix everything up, at a splash more buttermilk. If it seems a little too runny, add a dollop more mayonnaise. Works like a charm!

Everyone in our family luuurves this dressing. It is delicious. It also works awesome as a dip! Personally, I love it paired with salads, pizza, veggies, and fries! Some of you may think that ranch with fries or pizza sounds gross, but some of you  know what I’m talking about. Don’t knock it until you try it! SOOO GOOD!

What do you like your ranch dressing paired with??
