Homemade Baker’s Twine
Oh yes! You read that title right! Maybe I’ve gone a step too far in my DIY-ness. Maybe I’ve lost my mind. Maybe I should have just spend the money and bought some baker’s twine. But, in my defense, baker’s twine doesn’t always come in exactly the color my little heart desires. And sometimes I don’t want to spend money but I want the adorableness. So instead… I ventured into the realms of insanity and made some Homemade Baker’s Twine!
And seriously, upon finding this tutorial, how could a girl pass up the chance to DIY something that everyone loves?? Really?
Are you ready for the supply list?? It is really extensive. You may need to get a pen and paper to make this list. Ready?
- Embroidery floss {white plus whatever other color you want}
Phew! I’m glad that we made it through that! 😉
Cut three equal strands of floss. Tie them together at one end. Attach the knotted end to a doorknob, a drawer, or go super ghetto like me and shut it in your laptop. What? I’m lazy.
Twist each strand counter-clockwise until it twists up when you give it some slack.
Once all strands are twisted, join them together and twist all three strands clockwise.
Voila! And the best part?? It will all stay twisted together! Of course, like normal baker’s twine, it will untwist if you play with the ends. You can cut off those frayed ends and the knot and it will still stay twisted together!
See the side by side of my homemade baker’s twine {left} and the real stuff {right}. Pretty close, right!? At least close enough to pass as baker’s twine!
Of course, I only made small bits of my colored baker’s twine. Only as much as I needed. So those clothespins look sad and empty but I promise that the twine is adorable as can be! Look! It can even withstand being fiddled with 15oo times while I tried to make the perfect bow!
Now you are all set when in a pinch and need some baker’s twine! Woohoo! This has opened a whole new realm of DIY-ness. Watch out world! Plus, can I just say that I’m loving the amazingness of storing my baker’s twine on clothespins?? So adorbs!
Have you ever jumped off the deep end and DIY-ed something that most people would just buy??
