Okay. Before I get started I have to say a huge thank you to all of you wonderful, fat-hearted people who really encouraged me after I shared about my change of heart. It really is because of all of you awesomesauce peeps that I want to share more of myself. And by myself I mean my heart. Not my body. Do NOT picture me running naked through the streets screaming “I JUST WANT TO SHARE ALL OF THIS!!” That would just be gross. (I apologize for that visual. Also, I mentioned sharing more of my dirty mind. Apparently that has started as well.)
Today’s post on curb appeal is about house numbers. But before I get into the how-to of my new house numbers, I have to ask that you pretty pretty please don’t stalk me. I’ve always blurred out my house number on pictures of our home, but I can’t really do that when my whole post is about said house numbers. Go figure. So if you are the friendly kind of stalker who will send me presents (of the chocolate, flowers, and power tool kind) by all means, stalk away! But if you are the other variety (the locks of hair, poisoned chocolate, and pictures of myself sleeping kind of “presents”) please know that those aren’t my real house numbers! he… he… *boldfacelie*… he.
We are talking curb appeal again today. Any guesses as to what we could be talking about today??
SHEBAM!! Oh yeah! Notice a difference? A
little big change that happened this past week?? Well, I think it is a big change. Here. I’ll help you out. Let’s look at what our home looked like when we left off last week…
See it now? I’ll give you a hint… read the title of this post again. I painted the front door! Yes again. I know you may think I am crazy but I am seriously in love with our new blue front door! I LOVE IT! It is amazing.
First off, you guys rock. Thank you so much for all of your sweet words about our Dining Room Makeover Reveal. You guys are the reason I blog. You are the best virtual friends a girl could ask for. I’ll be posting more details about the makeover next week.
Last week, I shared about our new roof and the landscaping we have been toiling so hard on. You may have noticed that the “after” picture of our house I have been sharing all week has fancy new shutters. That is because I totally forgot to take “after” pictures along the way, after finishing each step. Oops.
Up until a week ago our shutters looked like this. A deep hunter green. In certain lights, they just looked black. I wasn’t a huge fan.
Today I’m continuing with my curb appeal series. Woo! When talking about curb appeal, one of the biggest things you can do to increase curb appeal is landscaping. I know. That word can totally be intimidating. But landscaping doesn’t just mean hiring a professional to revamp your yard. Landscaping can be a DIY too! Just ask our house when we first bought it. To say that our home lacked appeal when we first saw it, is an understatement. Yikes.
I’m on a curb appeal kick. And it is totally unintentional. I mean, yes. Our house is in some desperate need of curb appeal. The above is how it looked when we first bought it. Imagine years of ignoring the state of your yard. That is what our yard looked like. It was bad.
Then, after discovering some serious issues with the trees, we had 17 removed. And 7 overgrown bushes. Yeah. Seventeen trees in that tiny front yard. Crazy town. We left 3 of the healthy trees and they are flourishing with all their newfound sunlight. And this is how you all last saw the front of our house. Trees removed, gutters full of leaves, and random black spot on the driveway. (What the heck is that!? I didn’t even notice it until I looked at this picture!) I didn’t even give curb appeal another thought. I was all caught up working on the inside of the house.
And then, on Valentine’s Day evening, the wind came. About 10pm that night the winds started to pick up. And they didn’t stop until the next morning. Gusts reached 110 mph. Tornado force winds. For about 9 hours straight.
