How many people does it take to hang a gallery wall? Well, you could get away with one, but 2 is optimal. I guess the real question here is how many months does it take until Talitha goes crazy not having a gallery wall. The answer? Six. I have hated living the past 6 months without a single picture hung anywhere in my house. No, not because I’m a die-hard Pinterest addict who must have the coolest things in my house. Because, let’s be honest, I’m not cool. I’m a nerd who loves weird things. But because we have been so focused on painting and furniture that I haven’t put up a single “sentimental” item in our house. Sure, we bought new couches. But that isn’t sentimental. Neither is a dresser turned media stand.
I’m a big believer that a home should be a place that reflects who you are and what you love. And who do I love more than my family?? Plus, being more than 1,000 miles from all of them makes me miss their faces. But don’t tell them that. We don’t have a great single location for a gallery wall, I decided to spread it down our entire hallway. And as anyone who has ever attempted to configure a gallery wall can tell you, it can be annoying and tricky. So I’m here to share my little tips and tricks of How-to Hang a Gallery Wall!
The front of my house is sad.
There. I said it. The yard is basically a dirt/mulch pit. There are about 6 full grown trees too many. Plus uncontrollable bushes. You can barely see the front of the house but I’m working on it. I’ve spent countless hours weeding and cleaning things up but we are still a long way from perfect. I’ve hung some pots and painted the front door a fun inviting color. I’ve also added some potted plants… but things were still lacking. So when Lullaby Paints sent me some of their awesome chalkboard paint, I knew exactly what I was going to do with it. I decided to add a fun pop to our front entry with a DIY Chalkboard Entry Sign!
This is the awesome kit that comes when you purchase Lullaby Paints. Not only do you get the chalkboard paint, but you also get a mini roller, disposable tray, a small roll of painters tape, and a few sticks of chalk. I love it! This kit is awesome! Plus, did you notice all the colors that their chalkboard paint comes in?? Love. Continue reading
HI!!! It is so good to be back to DIY-ing after being gone on a mini-vacay to Tennessee this past week. While my hubby attended a nerdy conference I got to hang out with my sister, brother-in-law, and 3 nieces! It was great. Anywho, back to the crafting. Not too long ago I was sent the most wonderful box of goodies. Let me tell you, opening a box full of Martha Stewart Decoupage items can make a girl’s day.
I found fabric-to-fabric medium, oil cloth finish, some Martha paints, soft bristle brushes, beautiful lace trims and fabric cut-outs. I knew instantly that I wanted to create a lace trimmed pillow. I’ve been meaning to update some of my pillows to go with our new home colors so this was a perfect opportunity!
Phew! I am so glad to be back. Just sitting down to write this post for all of you feels like a break! The past 2 weeks have been insane in the membrane. But seriously. I’ve barely had a chance to breath. Sitting down feels like a luxury. Thank God we leave for a mini-vacay tomorrow! Woo!
Part of all of our busy-ness has included having lots of company over. Of course, in my crazy person brain, that meant that I wanted to make the main bath pretty for them to use. You know… because my to-do list wasn’t long enough already. Crazy person, I’m telling you. Praise the Lord I have such a wonderful husband who puts up with my whims.
Our main bath was totally usable but it was quite dingy. Besides being super boring beige, the baseboards were all scratched up and the paint job was very poorly done. So of course, I wanted to add my own little she-bang before everyone came over. What’s a girl to do to add some pop to a small bathroom?? Stripes, of course! I learned a few tips along the way while learning how-to make the perfect stripes… so I thought I would pass them on to you all!
