I wouldn’t call myself a DIY novice. I’ve been doing big DIY projects for years. But there are still some big aspects of DIY-ing that freak me out. One thing? Plumbing. Water can do a lot of damage, peeps. I don’t want leaks! But even more intimidating to me is anything electrical. And I’m not alone out there! Many of my friends have told me that they are afraid of electrical too. But, I am waaaay too cheap to hire someone to switch out light switches. So I have decided to put forth an effort to learn some basic stuff about electrical work in hopes of encouraging all of you that you can do it too. Because, let’s be honest, if I can do it… so can you! Today’s electrical 101 lesson? How-to replace old light switches!
My walls are boring. There. I said it. We have been working hard on this little house of ours since we moved in last April. But bigger projects have been our priority. We painted them. And I hung a gallery wall in the hallway. But that is about it. And my nekkid walls (especially in the living room) were really starting to bug me. Because our walls are nice and tall and there was so much open space above our TV, I wanted something big. And rustic. And schmancy. No piddly little artwork for this girl. So I pulled on my thinking cap and slipped into my artsy pants (look at me all clothed in imaginary things! Wait. Scratch that. I do, in fact, have pants on) and set to work making my very own large scale rustic world map.
I’ve done it! I’ve finally done it! It has been 2.5 months in the making but I finally did it! My vintage bentwood rocking chair has gotten a makeover. It took me forever but I finally got around to it. Is it just me or is your to-do list getting longer by the minute!? Make it stop! Let me do a little catch up! Continue reading
We are on our way to Chicago today to visit family for the holidays. So rather than scrambling to write a post in the midst of my mad dash to pack, do laundry, and clean the past few days, I thought I would share a few DIY oldies but goodies that I shared last Christmas. Christmas is just a week away but all 8 of these DIY holiday ideas are so simple that you can have them done in no time! Continue reading
Oh my goodness, peeps. I swear, each time I write up a post I promise myself (and you guys!) that I am going to write more often. But then I walk away from the computer and life takes over. Over the past few weeks we had our water heater explode, leaving water all over our basement. Then we had to replace our dishwasher. And just this past week the stove went out. Awesome. When it rains, it pours… right? So now I promise to try to write as much as I would like. Deal??
In the midst of all the craziness recently, I have managed to crank out 1 Christmas project. That’s right… ONE! I think I had about 15 planned. Stupid life. Always in the way of my crafting fun. 😉 I even wanted to do a winter home tour but you’ll be lucky if you see a picture of our tree. But seriously… I kinda love this project. Partially because it cost me $0 and partially because it looks way better than I could have hoped. So I guess if I was only going to get one thing done, I’m glad it was these adorable and incredibly easy Rustic Paint Stick Stars.
